    Join us for a journey of reckoning, reflection, and repair.

    Engage with Harvard's legacy of slavery as we learn about those who were oppressed, enslaved, and buried here, but whose dignity and humanity we aim to acknowledge and honor during this journey.

    We will also discuss how to incorporate the tour and the report into one’s teaching.

    Todd Rogers, Weatherhead Professor of Public Policy, will teach how to write so busy people read, understand, and respond to our messages. Everyone is busy. That’s why we skim emails, texts, forms, documents, and nearly everything else. In this workshop you will learn the practical cognitive science of communication, and the six actionable principles it generates. In addition to increasing the effectiveness of our messages, these principles make our communications more equitable and kinder by being more respectful of busy readers’ time and attention.     Join us for an introduction to Widener and Houghton Libraries. Often considered the flagship library, at Widener you will receive an introduction to the library's history and collections, an orientation to the building, and an overview of services available to library users. Houghton Library is Harvard’s primary rare book and manuscript library, and your time there will include visits to exhibition spaces and display rooms, a history of the building, and an overview of services available.

    The Museum is Your Classroom: Faculty Tour of the Harvard Art Museums

    1:00pm to 2:00pm

    This interactive tour will put faculty in the shoes of students to look together at select works of art; introduce faculty to the museums’ collections and teaching spaces; and showcase some of the creative ways that Harvard classes have engaged with the Harvard Art Museums.

    The museums’ team of educators, curators, conservators, scientists, and technologists work closely with faculty from all disciplines to create learning experiences that advance course goals, enhance critical thinking, and support student skill-building.
