Do you want to write something different, bigger, more ambitious than journal articles? Are you writing a book, or thinking about it? You know that publishing has changed even in just the last ten years. What do you need to know in 2015 (and 2016) to write and publish a book successfully? Join our panelists for lively discussion and practical advice. Jill Kneerim, Managing Director, Kneerim & Williams Literary Agency Gita Manaktala, Editorial Director, MIT Press Sharmila Sen, Executive Editor-at-Large, Harvard University Press The panel will address questions like: What's the difference between an academic book and a trade book? How do you write an effective proposal? When do you need an agent? How do you find the right agent? The right publisher? What are authors' most common pitfalls and how can you avoid them? What counts as "success"? This event is open to both Harvard and MIT faculty. Refreshments will be served. Space is limited.
