Harvard Library Faculty Workshop: Working with Wikipedia

Date:

Wednesday, October 20, 2021, 1:30pm to 2:30pm

Location:

Online Event. Registration Required.

Wikipedia has become the bedrock of everyone’s information environment: an intermediate source you pretend you didn’t use, an opportunity to shape the world’s knowledge, the source of various parts of the web. In this workshop we’ll look at Wikipedia’s place in the larger Wikimedia universe, discuss ways to facilitate students’ critical engagement with the platform, and share some tips on managing your own Wikipedia presence.

Our panel of librarians has experience running edit-athons, working with Wikidata and other aspects of Wikipedia's infrastructure, and helping students understand how to engage with sources. We look forward to hearing your ideas and questions.

This workshop is intended for Harvard faculty; teaching fellows are also welcome to attend. This is an online event: Registered attendees will receive a Zoom link and a reminder email prior to the start of the workshop.
