Tara K. Menon is an Assistant Professor of English, and a Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows. She holds a BA in English from Columbia University and a MA, MPhil, and PhD in English from New York University. Her teaching and research interests include: nineteenth-century literature, novels, narrative theory, and global anglophone fiction. She is currently writing a book called Spoken Words about speech, character, and conversation in nineteenth-century novels, which is under contract with Princeton University Press. Her Narrative article “Keeping Count: Direct Speech in Nineteenth-Century British novels” won the James Phelan Prize. 

Her reviews and essays have appeared in venues including the New York Times Book Review, the Los Angeles Review of Books, Public Books, The Paris Review, The Sewanee Review, and more.
